MY DUAL MASTER'S DEGREE PROGRAM AND JOURNEY
Introduction
My name is Julius Uwansc and I'm a current student of University of Maryland University College (UMUC). I am pursuing a Dual Master’s degree in Instructional Technology and Distance Education and e-Learning (MDE). In 2012, I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Technology with a minor in Homeland Security. In my continued effort to move higher, I decided to shift my career to education, thus in 2014 I graduated with a Master’s degree in Education (M.Ed) with a major in Instructional Technology. Education is a never-ending career to me because in 2010, I was earned an Associate degree in Network Technology from the Community College of Baltimore County, Maryland. That was the stepping stone that led me to seek for further education . I also have a CompTIA A+ certification (2010) from The IT Industry Trade Association (CompTIA), a worldwide IT certification body in the field of technology and industry.
The MDE program of the University of Maryland University College is in partnership with the Center for Life-long Learning (C3L) at Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg (OL). The program is a comprehensive and challenging one that requires a lot of dedication to academic pressure. It is my wish to fulfill all requirements for this program in fulfillment for the award of the diploma. Since Distance Education/e-Learning is a global alternative to the traditional face-to-face environment, I am looking forward to providing the skills and competences which are important keys to succeed in the instruction, policy and management of online distance education.
This E-Portfolio will detail the courses taken, their resources, artifacts, learning journal, and reflection of the MDE program. The program, Distance Education Policy and Management has the following courses:

At the end of the semester in 2012 I had to travel to Germany and then to France to visit a friend and his family who share the same religious and spiritual affiliation with me. It was one of my best vacation after denying myself of much leisure since I started my online program in 2010. After spending two weeks, I had to shuttle back to the US to continue with plans for my next move--to get my master's degree or call it quit? As it turned out, I did not call it quit rather, I continued on my academic journey to a higher level.

Learning Journal--Purpose and Objectives
The purpose of my journal is to support the practice of reflecting upon what I have learned in this course and beyond. It will require me to discuss my course readings and interactions with classmates, visiting experts, and my instructor.s I will also reflect on my learning processes and outcomes; understanding of course content and changes where applicable; identifying learning strengths and weaknesses with the view of addressing each. Objectives of the reflective learning journal will be used as a guide for accomplishment of the MDE goals.
